This project looks at globalisation through lenses of critical optimism. Its multidimensional approach uses chaos theory to understand organisations in today's complex world. It seeks wisdom for the 'knowledge society' to understand and change it.
We co-construct Cross-cultural 'larrikin' wisdom, laid-back, sceptical, friendly and creative, from different experiences and perspectives of Australia, Mexico and Brazil, fascinating parts of the global system, not ignoring its dark side and the ambiguous role of corruption. We believe there's a better way than Neo-Liberalism and one-size-fits-all Economic Rationalism, in informal practices, rule-bending, and personal charm (jeitinho).
Our cross-cultural larrikin team come from Australia, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, yet we are also all 'larrikins', based in Australia, deeply connected elsewhere. We are sort-of experts in critical management studies. And we don't believe in experts.
